After the decoction machine completes the decoction, if strictly operated according to the operating requirements, there will be no problems such as sedimentation, sourness, or taste change in the packaged medicine. The main reasons for the sourness of packaged Chinese medicine are as follows:
1. Before decoction, heat the medicine to 100 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is below 100 degrees Celsius, the medicine will deteriorate, especially at room temperature above 30 degrees Celsius. Depending on the composition of the medicine, the shelf life is between 3-5.
2. After the decoction is completed, thoroughly cleaning the decoction machine is an important step. If the packaging is not completely cleaned before starting, the first package of medicine may be cut off and repackaged before being delivered to the patient. This can cause the medication to deteriorate. The patient believes it is a problem with the decoction machine, but in fact it is the responsibility of the operator.
3. One situation is that some decoction rooms, in order to provide medication to patients as soon as possible, immediately put the freshly boiled medication into cold water to cool down, which gives the bacteria in the medicine a chance to revive and reproduce. If naturally cooled, most bacteria will be killed, thereby extending the shelf life. After 4 to 5 minutes of frying, the temperature of the Chinese medicine will drop to 0-70 degrees, and then it will be packaged.
